1 Our Commitment to Your Safety
At Uvidunda Mountain Cultural Tourism Enterprise (UMCTE), in partnership with Shimulimuli Heritage Foundation (SHF), the safety, wellbeing, and dignity of our guests, guides, community hosts, and partners are fundamental to every experience we provide.
Our experiences take place in natural and cultural environments, including mountain trails, forests, waterfalls, villages, and outdoor community spaces. These environments involve conditions that cannot be completely controlled or predicted. We work to identify and manage reasonably foreseeable risks while providing guests with clear information to make informed decisions.
2 Experiences Covered by This Policy
This policy applies to all UMCTE operations, including but not limited to:
3 Natural Environment & Outdoor Risks
Outdoor activities carry inherent environmental variables. Guests should remain aware of terrain, weather, and physical demands:
- Uneven, rocky, muddy, or slippery footpaths.
- Steep inclines, narrow ridges, and sudden weather shifts.
- Sun exposure, heat, humidity, or reduced mountain visibility.
- Water currents and slippery surfaces near waterfalls and rivers.
- Variable cellular network reception in high or remote valleys.
4 Before Your Experience
To ensure a smooth trip, guests are requested to:
Assess Fitness: Match your physical condition with the trail grade or duration before booking.
Proper Gear: Wear sturdy hiking shoes or footwear with grip, and carry adequate drinking water.
Disclose Conditions: Inform us in advance of relevant allergies, mobility restrictions, or medical needs.
5 During the Experience
Participants are expected to adhere to basic safety protocol during active tours:
- Remain with your designated guide and group throughout the trek.
- Avoid entering unmapped hazard zones, cliff edges, or rapid river currents.
- Notify your guide immediately if you experience exhaustion, dizziness, or injury.
- Refrain from alcohol or intoxicating substances during active trail trekking.
6 Weather & Environmental Conditions
Mountain weather in Morogoro can shift rapidly. Guides continuously evaluate conditions. If rainfall or terrain instability presents an unreasonable risk, UMCTE reserves the right to reroute, delay, or shorten an activity to prioritize group safety.
7 Emergency Response & First Aid
In the event of an injury or emergency, local guides will lead first-response measures. Guides carry essential first-aid supplies and maintain contact protocols with operational coordinators in Morogoro and Dar es Salaam to facilitate medical evacuation or transport if necessary.
