Are professional tour guides included? ↓
Yes. Every UMCTE experience includes a trained local guide who is familiar with the Uvidunda Mountains, local culture, and visitor safety procedures. Tours are conducted in both English and Kiswahili.
How can I pay for my booking? ↓
We accept secure payments through Tanzanian Mobile Money (M-Pesa, Mixx by Yas, Airtel Money, HaloPesa) as well as international Visa and Mastercard payments during checkout.
What's included in my tour? ↓
Every booking includes a local guide, guided activities listed in the itinerary, entry to included attractions, and community-hosted cultural experiences where applicable. Each tour page lists exactly what is included before checkout.
What should I wear or bring for hiking tours? ↓
We recommend hiking or walking shoes with good grip, lightweight clothing, a hat, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, a light rain jacket during the rainy season, and a camera for the beautiful mountain views. A detailed packing checklist is emailed after booking.
Do I need to be physically fit? ↓
Most experiences are suitable for people with a moderate level of fitness. Some hikes, including Iyungi Peak, involve steep trails and several hours of walking. The difficulty level is clearly shown on each tour page so you can choose an experience that suits you.
Can I cancel or reschedule my booking? ↓
Yes. Eligible bookings may be cancelled or rescheduled according to our Cancellation & Refund Policy. If weather or safety conditions affect a tour, we'll offer the available options outlined in that policy.
What happens if the weather is unsafe? ↓
Guest safety comes first. If heavy rain, strong winds, or unsafe trail conditions affect an experience, UMCTE may delay, modify, reschedule, or cancel the activity. We'll contact you as early as possible with the available options.
How does my booking support local communities? ↓
UMCTE is a community-led cultural tourism initiative operating in partnership with Shimulimuli Heritage Foundation (SHF). Every booking helps support local guides, community hosts, traditional artisans, cultural performers, and sustainable conservation initiatives in the Uvidunda Mountains.
